Returntosender Surprises In The 2010 Queen of the South Stakes Win

Returntosender, trained by Peter Moody, won the $150,000 Group 2 Queen of the South Stakes (1600m) on Saturday at Adelaide’s Morphettville Racecourse.

Headlining the day of racing as part of the illustrious Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival, the Group 2 race saw ten fillies and mares compete for the title.

In what was a surprising result the four-year-old started from the widest barrier and overcame the field to cross the line first.

Amberino – a favourite heading into the race came in third place, with Majestic Music a close fourth.

Going into the 2010 Queen of the South Stakes as favourite to come away victorious was the Pat Hyland-trained Zarita. The five-year old disappointed, and finished the race in fifth spot.

Also taking place on Saturday alongside the 2010 Queen of the South Stakes was the $100,000 Group 3 D C McKay Stakes (1100m) which saw Catapulted come away with the win.
