Three-year-old Japhils has returned to racing in slick form this time but will need luck in running in the 2015 Queen Of The South Stakes after being allocated the wide and somewhat awkward barrier 12.

Beginning her career under the guidance of Darren Weir, for whom she posted a debut win, Japhils transferred to the care of John Sadler towards the conclusion of 2014.

Failing to make much of an impact over her first three starts this time, the Choisir filly boxed on for a close second in the Geoff Murphy Handicap (1400m) on April 4th before making a successful transition to black type racing in the Listed Nitschke Stakes (1400m) last weekend.

Confirmed to be partnered by veteran Dean Yendall, Japhils will carry just 53.5kgs in the 2015 Queen Of The South Stakes.

Marianne has posted several typically good results since returning to racing in 2015 and is offered a great chance of black type success in the Queen Of The South Stakes from the ideal barrier 6 with leading hoop Hugh Bowman aboard.

Posting three wins and a further eight minor through her 15 career starts so far, Marianne was unlucky to be blocked for a run when eighth in the Group 2 NSW Thoroughbred Breeders Classic (1200m) on February 2nd but responded well in running a close second in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) in early March.

Having run third in each of the Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) and Listed Anniversary Vase (1400m) most recently, the daughter of Darci Brahma is sure to relish a step back up to a mile on Saturday and is a leading chance of success.

Girl In Flight is yet to register peak condition over three starts this time and will need luck in running to reverse her fortunes in the 2015 Queen Of The South Stakes from the outside barrier.

Ending a strong sprint campaign second to subsequent Group 1 champion Suavito in the Group 2 Momentum Energy Stakes (2000m), Girl In Flight ran fourth in the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) first-up this time, and while placing a close second in the Sunline Stakes, was unable to figure when fifth in a Flemington minor over a mile on April 11th.

Classy local runner Held Hostage is offered a good chance of finding ideal running room early from barrier 1, while Perth raider Bippo No Bungus is likely to receive the run of the race in the 2015 Queen Of The South Stakes from barrier 3.
